Lemons, Champagne & Lasting Friendships

Bobby Flay's Champagne Granita is a summer favorite.  Recently when making it I reached for these oversized blue-and- white cups to hold the lemons.   They were a gift from a dear friend, and every time I use them, I am reminded that some of my pieces aren't just beautiful they also carry the stories of the people who gave them to me.  That is one of the quiet joys of collecting.  

Add a handful of bright summer lemons, and suddenly the kitchen feels a little more French, a little more relaxed, and ready for friends to gather.  

The lemons will be used, the Champagne Granita will be enjoyed, but the blue-and-white cups along with the memories they hold....will be waiting for the next summer afternoon.
