About This Piece
A superb 19th century French sterling silver mustard pot with cobalt blue liner and sterling mustard spoon, by Edmond Tétard. The pot rests on four decorative feet; fine vertical columns alternate with bellflower and circular motifs; large cartouches on either side feature scroll and floral designs; the finial and handle offer acanthus leaf details. A masterwork of French silversmithing.
Tétard founded his firm in 1880 at 4 Rue Béranger, Paris, which became Tétard Frères — one of the most important French silver houses. Edmond Tétard was awarded a gold medal at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris for his designs and quality.

Condition
Very good. A small push to the top of the lid where the decorative handle rests when open. The cobalt blue liner has two small chips to the edge, filed smooth — not visible when the liner is inside the pot.
