A set of six French sterling silver oyster or cocktail forks presented in their original leatherette case. A handsome set in a classic style without ornamentation — refined in its simplicity. A thoughtful and enduring wedding or anniversary gift.

Hallmarks & Provenance

French sterling silver, .950. Marked with the Minerva 1st Titre punch and the maker’s mark for Charles-Alfred Coignet, whose mark was entered in 1865. In 1889 his son took over the business.

Condition

Very good. Fine surface scratches and a tiny ding or two on the fork handles. The leatherette box shows some wear on the edges and a bit of tarnish staining on the satin lining, all in accordance with the age and use of the set.
