About This Piece
An antique pair of Victorian silk face screens with tassels and braided trim, c. 1890, acquired in England. Each screen features a different hand-painted floral scene on cream silk — one depicting an English rose with delicate blue flowers, the other a cutting of berries. The trim and cording in shades of gold and tan are accented with deep green and black; the reverse of each screen is covered in solid deep green silk. The handles are black porcelain and brass with decorative finials. An exceptional decorating detail for a fireplace or drawing room.
Provenance
Acquired in England. c. 1890.
