About This Piece

An antique French sterling silver egg cup with tripod legs resting on a round base, decorated with foliage motifs and a script monogram (possibly "SS"). A good gauge piece at 58.2 grams — a perfectly elegant way to enjoy one’s breakfast egg.

Silver egg cups are wonderfully versatile — consider repurposing for small chocolates on a guest nightstand, holding rings by the sink, or for tiny flower arrangements. If used for flowers, always place a small inner cup to hold water, as stem decay can etch into silver.

Hallmarks & Provenance

French sterling silver, .950, c. 1900. Marked with the Minerva 1st standard mark (in use after 1838). Maker’s punch currently being researched.
