About This Piece
An antique French sterling silver and vermeil (gilt-washed) tea strainer, c. 1900, in the over-the-cup style. The delicate handle is decorated with acanthus leaf and bell-flower motifs, echoed in the bowl of the strainer. A gift any tea lover would be delighted to receive.
Hallmarks & Provenance
French sterling silver, .950, marked with the Minerva 1st standard mark. Maker’s punch CB for Charles Barrier (a gaiter with a star above), mark registered 1905.
