About This Piece
A vintage French silver plate rectangular tray with handles, featuring acanthus leaf details and crossed ribbon motifs. Perfect for serving drinks, holding the mail, organizing a dressing table, or adding a touch of French elegance to a bathroom counter.
The tray bears an intriguing combination of marks — a punch for "métal blanc" (silverplate) along with a cat’s head mark on the reverse, and inscribed on the front for A. Blanchet, a French maker who possibly did work for Galia. The cat’s head mark was used by Galia, Christofle’s silver-plated line, to indicate specific foreign branches or collaborations during the 1920s and 1930s.
Hallmarks & Provenance
French silver plate, c. 1920. Marked "métal blanc" and cat’s head mark (associated with Galia/Christofle). Inscribed for A. Blanchet.
