About This Piece
An antique English sterling silver menu or place card holder, Birmingham 1899, decorated in the Rococo style and in exceptionally good condition. Made by Grey & Co — a firm founded in London by William Grey in 1876 and known from 1886 to 1936 for their silver novelties, supplying prestigious retail establishments including Asprey & Co, London, and P. Orr & Sons. A lovely addition to your table design.
Hallmarks & Provenance
English sterling silver, Birmingham, 1899. Marked with the Lion Passant for .925 silver, Birmingham Anchor assay mark, date letter for 1899, and maker’s mark for Grey & Co (founded by William Grey, London, 1876; active as Grey & Co 1886–1936).
