About This Piece
A fine Victorian sterling silver needlework set or étui, Birmingham 1899, maker’s mark JMB. Comprised of scissors, darning hooks, crochet hooks, a cork pull, and a thimble — all with ornate scroll handles — encased in the original presentation box with velvet and silk lining. The scissors blades are marked Sheffield. The Charles Horner thimble (1902, bright-cut engraved, size 8) is a later but sympathetic addition that completes the set beautifully. A fine set for the collector of antique sewing items.
