Antique Silver Knives French Mother of Pearl

About This Piece

A set of twelve French Mother of Pearl and silver dinner knives in the hard-to-find size of 9¾". The luminous pearl handles are finished with ornate silver ferrules worked in the Louis XVI style with acanthus leaves and a bay leaf swag — a set that will incorporate beautifully with other flatware and table settings.

The blades appear to have been replaced, as there is no oxidation or darkening — a significant advantage, as Mother of Pearl and silver knives offered for sale often have older blades with oxidation.

Provenance

French, early 20th century. Ferrules are unmarked, which is not unusual for this type of cutlery.

Condition
