Your French nursery is almost ready. You have chosen a warm gray or perhaps a soft blue along with a toile wallpaper. A French style chest serves as the changing table and there are a few French books on the side table near the rocking chair.  Now for the finishing touches, some wall art, baskets for organizing baby items, and of course a few French keepsakes such as a baby’s rattle.

This French silver and Mother of Pearl baby’s rattle would make a perfect keepsake. I found this is Paris and loved the basket motif with flowers.  The rattle also has a working whistle and six attached bells.  Take a close look at all the details on this sweet piece.  Provenance may be lacking; however, one’s imagine can enjoy filling in the blanks about who gave the rattle, was it a Christening gift, etc.  We do know that it is marked for French silver and is in lovely condition. Ready to delight another generation.

French, C 1900, marked for .800 silver, maker’s mark is being researched.
