About This Piece
An antique French sterling silver coffee or teapot by Louis Cognet, Paris, c. 1900. The pear-shaped pot is decorated in the Rococo or Louis XV style with scrolling raised borders around the neck and lid, Rococo foliage on the handle, spout, and applied feet, and a single flower finial on the lid. At 702 grams (22½ troy ounces), a substantial and beautifully made piece. Just returned from a master silversmith in Atlanta where the handle was tightened and the insulators replaced. Hand cleaned only — not highly polished — to retain the lovely patina that only comes with time.
