About This Piece

An antique sterling silver and cut-glass French muffineer, sugar shaker, or castor.
The sterling silver top features a beautifully pierced domed lid resting on a matching silver collar, creating both refinement and practicality in equal measure.
Crafted by the esteemed Parisian silversmiths Lagarde & Fortin of 5 Rue Froissart, C 1920. The piece bears the French Minerva hallmark for .950 silver purity along with the maker’s mark for Lagarde & Fortin.
Known in France as a saupoudreuse, these elegant table accessories are referred to in America as sugar sifters or dusters. Whether serving French madeleines, berries, or a leisurely breakfast of French toast, it offers a wonderfully elegant way to dust powdered sugar — or even cinnamon — with effortless style.
