Antique French Sterling Silver Tea Strainer: Gilt Wash Bowl with Petal Design
An antique French sterling silver tea strainer with a warm vermeil (gilt) wash, circa 1900. This over-the-cup style strainer features a delicate handle embellished with floral and leaf motifs. The bowl is decorated with raised bands of crossed ribbons and acanthus leaves, complemented by refined pierced work and a softly sculpted floral-petal design.
A charming and thoughtful gift for any tea lover.
Crafted in France in .950 sterling silver, confirmed by the Minerva 1st Standard mark. Maker’s mark is currently being researched.
Measurements; 7 long, 2 5/8”, wide ¾” deep, 37 gram weight
Condition Report: Very good overall condition. Light surface scratches consistent with age and use. Several small dings and bends are present along the outer edge of the bowl. The gilt wash shows wear but retains a subtle golden glimmer. These points are reflected in the pricing.
