Vintage 1970's Set of 8 Knife Rests Dior Style, Lucite, Brass & Cane

About This Piece

A set of eight vintage knife rests comprised of woven cane encased in Lucite and finished with brass accents, evoking the refined modernism of Dior Home designs of the 1970s. Unmarked, the set was acquired on a recent buying trip to France and acquired in Paris.

Each Lucite base is mounted with a polished brass bar terminating in a brass sphere. The spheres feature an opening at the top, though the slots do not align uniformly throughout the set — a subtle quirk that adds character and invites interpretation, whether viewed as purely decorative or suggestive of an alternate intended use.

The interplay of clear Lucite, warm cane, and softly aged brass gives the set a distinctly sophisticated yet relaxed presence. Equally suited to an informal outdoor table or a sleek contemporary setting, these knife rests bring texture, warmth, and understated style to the table.

Hallmarks & Provenance

Italian -there are numerous examples of items made in the 70's in Italy that were in the style of Dior Home.   No markings found.  Condition is very good, with some aging to the brass and a few minor scratches on the edges of the Lucite.
