About This Piece
A set of four antique English sterling silver menu holders with fox head and crossed crops, Birmingham 1907–1908, by William Hutton & Sons Ltd, with original presentation box. Each holder features a highly detailed fox head with two crossed crops behind it — a handsome piece of equestrian interest.
Formal Victorian and Edwardian dinner tables featured silver holders with handwritten menus — most often written in French, detailing the courses to be presented. Today they double beautifully as business card holders, place card holders, or for important correspondence.

English sterling silver, .925. Marked with the Lion Passant for sterling, Anchor for Birmingham assay office, date letter "h" for 1907 (one holder) and "I" for 1908 (three holders), and maker’s mark SS WH for William Hutton & Sons Ltd, Birmingham.
