About This Piece

A grand French sterling silver napkin ring in the Empire style, featuring acanthus wreaths, flowers, and ribbons. The sides and back have precise panels with floral work and further acanthus leaves. Monogrammed "AA". Beautiful and heavy — ready to take its place in any serious collection.

If you have not yet collected antique French napkin rings, this would be a fine example to begin with. French rings are more generous in size than their English or American counterparts — grand in scale and usually grand in design, created by master silversmiths with unlimited decorative vocabulary: flowers, latticework, wreaths, ribbons, flaming torches, quivers. Many bear monograms that add to the story of the piece. Each one has its own little history.

Condition
