About This Piece

An Old Paris porcelain covered server embellished with an ornate armorial family crest. The striking dish is finished in egg-custard yellow with white handles and finial receiving gilt trim; the decorative details on the lid are finished in gilt and deep red, with a brilliant French blue on the spectacular shield adding bold contrast. A commanding piece with aristocratic presence.

Hallmarks & Provenance

French porcelain, c. 1850. Marked for Rihouet Lerosey, Paris. The firm was originally founded by Louis Marie François Rihouet, born into a wealthy family with ties to the Duke of Orléans. He retired in 1853 and sold the business to Charles Lerosey; the brand continued as Rihouet Lerosey until 1910.

Condition
