About This Piece

A pair of French gilt bronze candlesticks in the Empire style, with tapered reeded columns set on round bases decorated with lyre and griffin motifs. Further geometric decoration on the bases is fully in keeping with the Empire aesthetic. The vase-shaped capitals are adorned with stylized palmettes — a handsome and imposing pair.

Condition
